Causes of hair loss



There are several causes for hair loss but some of the main ones are mentioned below:

Lack of nutrition: People should follow a healthy diet with enough proteins, vitamins and minerals to stop hair loss and keep a check on hair growth.  People who have eating disorders do not get adequate nutrition required and lose hair as they are likely to have iron deficiency.   
Hair handlings and styling: Treatments like hair color, bleaching, straightening, perming can cause damage and make the hair break off or fall out. They can also cause irritation on the scalp which results in a condition called traction alopecia. This condition can be permanent if the style is worn for a long time and it damages hair follicle.
Androgenic alopecia: The most common cause for hair loss among adults, caused due to hormonal changes and genetics.   
Health conditions: Illnesses like diabetes or thyroid diseases and hormonal imbalance causes hair loss as they interfere with hair production.  
Medications: Some medications can also lead to hair loss.  Chemotherapy treatment for cancer is well known cause for hair loss.  
Trichotillomania is a psychological condition when people repeatedly pull their hair out, often leaving bald patches.    Pregnancy, delivery of baby, surgery and trauma can also cause temporary hair loss.
Alopecia areata: This is an auto immune skin disease often begins in childhood causing hair loss, in which the hair follicles are damaged by persons own immune system and can also lead to complete hair loss.

There are several hair loss remedies which give no effective results and can cause further damage; however there are herbal anti hair loss supplements that really works and helps in stopping hair loss and also benefits in the growth of hair.
